Get ready for UBalt Day of Giving #BowOnPoe 2022! This annual event inspires the University and School of Law community to support students by coming together and making gifts of every size.
On UBalt Day of Giving, you can make a gift to any area of the law school most meaningful to you including the priority areas of need listed below.
Your gift on April 6 also earns the School of Law a silver "Bow on Poe" as part of the University's annual competition among the four schools, University library, and Student Success. Last year, the School of Law received the prize for most dollars raised to support current and future students.
If you have any questions about UBalt Day of Giving or making a gift to the law school, please contact Jason Keller, director for alumni engagement, at jkeller@ubalt.edu.

Areas of greatest need
-
Public Interest Fellowships
For nearly 30 years, the School of Law has inspired students to serve as leaders in the public interest community through UBalt Students for Public Interest (UBSPI). UBSPI provides summer fellowships to students interested in pursuing public service careers, giving them valuable hands-on experience prior to graduation. This year, private support from alumni and friends is more critical than ever due to funding cuts. During their fellowships, students advocate for and serve underprivileged communities by helping them obtain equal representation in the justice system. And, your gift to UBSPI will have an immediate impact on our students by providing the essential funding needed for them to make a difference in the community.
-
Law Student Emergency Assistance Fund
Over the past year, the School of Law has stayed the course, providing a high-quality, skills-based legal education using online technology. This pandemic has been challenging for all of us, and the law school community has proven that together we have the resilience to move forward stronger. However, some students continue to face serious financial hardships. We cannot make every student whole, but we can assist students to continue their legal education as effectively as possible. Your gift to the Law Student Emergency Assistance Fund will support a student in their continued academic progress at UBalt Law.
-
Bar Passage Fund
Passing the bar exam is what every student dreams of, but not every student has the luxury of making bar prep their primary job. That means they are disadvantaged before they even sit down to write their first essay or answer a single question. Many new graduates often need to borrow money to take a prep course, to underwrite their living expenses while studying full time for two months, and to finance the cost of the test itself. The School of Law is committed to ensuring every graduating student is equipped with the necessary support when studying and preparing to take the bar exam. Your gift to the Bar Passage Fund provides financial assistance to students, allowing them to dedicate the time and attention needed to study for and pass the bar exam on their first try. -
Scholarships
Scholarship funding is a critical priority for the School of Law. With less state funding and a competitive legal education market, it's no surprise that over 90 percent of students receive some form of financial assistance to pursue their UBalt Law education.
Your gift to the general Law Scholarship Fund supports a robust scholarship program that allows us to attract and retain the top students in Maryland and across the nation, which enable our students to pursue impactful, fulfilling careers without the burden of increased student loan debt.
-
School of Law Dean's Annual Fund
For nearly a century, the School of Law has educated lawyers who went on to become leaders in all aspects of the civic and professional life of Maryland. Our curriculum combines the traditions of a doctrinal legal education with experiential learning opportunities that produce keen legal minds and dedicated advocates. Your gift to the School of Law Annual Fund allows us to provide scholarship support to our students and critical monies to continue the important work of our faculty, clinics and centers.
