Congratulations on your upcoming graduation!
The live commencement ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at SECU Arena at Towson University. The doors will open 90 minutes before the ceremony, at 8:30 a.m. More to come on when to arrive, it will most likely be by 8:45. This ceremony will be for both 2020 and 2021 graduates. We will not be able to hold two separate ceremonies.
The address for parking is 7000 Osler Drive, Towson, MD -- follow the event signs.
We anticipate that the ceremony will last no longer than 2 to 2½ hours.
The ceremony will be live streamed for those who are not attending in person. A link will be sent prior to the event for all of you that chose not to attend in person. It will also be posted on Facebook, and on the law school website.
We are currently working with a ticket vendor, MarchingOrder. Each graduate who has taken the survey and told us they are attending will receive 2 tickets. We are not able to give you any more than two tickets. If you opted to live stream rather than attend in person you will not get the ticketing email. Please watch your emails for this information. It should be in your inbox within the next week. Seating for your guests will be done in pods of two. A ticket is required for every guest, including infants and children.
We do not have any mandatory Covid testing or vaccine requirements. We have determined that all law grads who choose to attend, as well as their two guests can fit in the space with appropriate social distancing, in line with the current guidelines. Masks will be required for all who enter the arena.
Please note: Balloons, noisemakers, weapons of any kind, signs, banners & food/beverage -- other than unopened plastic bottles of water -- are not permitted in the Arena.
Accommodation requests for either a graduate or a guest attending the ceremony will be done through the MarchingOrder ticketing site. A representative from the commencement team will contact you before the ceremony with approval and logistics for accommodations, once you opt in for an accommodation when ordering tickets.
All graduates who are walking in the ceremony at Towson must show up at the ceremony, where you will be directed to the staging area for line-up, wearing the regalia that you ordered. This includes the hood; hooding will not be done on stage. More to come on exactly how the hood should be worn. The regalia ordering deadline has passed, and we cannot get any more.
As a graduate, you will not need a ticket, however we will check in to make sure you are on our list, please either bring your Bee card or a driver’s license.
If you received a 2021 tassel, and you are a 2020 graduate, we will have 2020 tassels at the physical ceremony. If you are not attending in-person, and haven’t given your mailing address for the tassel to be sent, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your address, so one can be sent to you.
If you have participated in the Board of Advocates, the Honor Board, or the Diversity Council, you will receive cords at commencement in the robing room, to wear as you process. This is yours to keep, with the tam and tassel.
More information is to come with logistical details for those of you who will attend. Parking is available and times will be announced for grads and guests. There is no dress rehearsal. We have worked it out with Herff Jones so that all of you who rent regalia will have until June 30 to return it, using the prepaid label you received with the regalia. Please note: Again, you may keep the tam and tassel.
Please watch your emails for important updates with logistical information. Lots more to come about many items in the next few weeks.
