UBalt's Trial Teams
Learn to be an effective storyteller and persuasive oral speaker in a supportive and rigorous environment. Whether you want to be a litigator or a transactional attorney, a trial team experience can significantly enhance your ability to be a persuasive public speaker in whatever area of law you decide to practice.
Advocacy teams and competitions accustom you to the etiquette and environment of a courtroom while sharpening the skills you need to build a convincing argument. The Board of Advocates annually offers opportunities for students to try out and participate on competitive trial teams. Trial teams conduct full trials in a competitive atmosphere using a fictional problem. Students learn how to present a case to a jury using persuasive trial tactics. They learn to think on their feet in making arguments and in examining trial witnesses. Academic credit for some teams is available.
