
The Center for International and Comparative Law promotes the study and understanding of international and comparative law, and of the political and economic institutions that support the international legal order. The Center sponsors research, publication, teaching, and the dissemination of knowledge about international legal issues, with special emphasis on human rights, democracy, intellectual property, and international business transactions.
Various members of the University of Baltimore community participate in and benefit from events at the center including University of Baltimore law faculty, visiting fellows, staff, and students.
To promote the study and understanding of international and comparative law, and of the political and economic institutions that support the international legal order, the Center is involved in a number of research and scholarship initiatives.
The Center for International and Comparative Law hosts a number of visits, events, and colloquia throughout the year. Guests have included renowned international law scholars and judges, through its annual Center for International and Comparative Law Lecture and the John Sumner Stead Colloquium on International & Comparative Law.

The Center was established in October 1994 as an academic research institute of the University of Baltimore School of Law. Initiatives are coordinated with other University of Maryland institutions through the System Associates Program and the John Sumner Stead Colloquium on International and Comparative Law.
