Publication Activities

Publication activities are the University of Baltimore Law Review, the University of Baltimore Law Forum, the University of Baltimore Intellectual Property Journal and the University of Baltimore Journal of Environmental Law. Students may earn up to 8 credits for participation in publication activities. Students are chosen for each journal based on a write-on competition and having the required minimum GPA set out by each journal. A student who is an Associate Editor or a member of the editorial board of the Law Review can earn two credit/no-credit credits per semester. A member of the editorial board of the Law Forum, the Intellectual Property Law Journal, or the Journal of Environmental Law can earn two pass-fail credits per semester. A student who is a member of the staff of any of the four School of Law publications can earn one credit/no-credit credit per semester.

Law Review

The University of Baltimore Law Review is a scholarly legal journal providing in-depth analysis of issues of current concern to practitioners and judges within the legal community. Law Review membership reflects excellence in scholastic achievement, as well as legal analysis, research, and writing skills. Each year's editorial board selects, with the concurrence of the faculty advisor, the succeeding editorial board. In order to participate in Law Review, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.0 at the completion of the Spring semester.

Law Forum

The University of Baltimore Law Forum, founded in 1970, is an award winning legal journal containing articles and recent developments on current trends in the law.  Law Forum membership reflects excellence in scholastic achievement, as well as legal analysis, research, and writing skills.  It is published under the direction of a student editorial board and staff. In order to participate in Law Forum, a student must have a GPA of at least 2.85.

Intellectual Property Law Journal

The University of Baltimore Intellectual Property Law Journal publishes two issues each year featuring articles analyzing current intellectual property issues, a rapidly growing legal practice area. The staff is selected by a writing competition in either the fall or spring semester. Students must have completed first year requirements to be eligible for a staff position. Editors are selected by the previous year's editorial board, with the concurrence of the faculty advisor. The minimum GPA for a student seeking to compete for a staff position on the Intellectual Property Law Journal is 2.85.

Journal of Environmental Law

The University of Baltimore Journal of Environmental Law, founded in 1990, is a scholarly legal journal providing in-depth analysis of environmental law issues of current concern to the legal community. It contains both professional and student articles, and is published under the direction of its student editorial board. All members of the Journal of Environmental Law's staff and editorial board are selected by a writing completion. The minimum GPA for a student seeking to compete for a staff position on the Journal of Environmental Law is 2.85.
