Your Academic Program

The University of Baltimore School of Law is a large public law school that offers the experience of a small liberal arts college.  A significant part of that experience is the faculty and student interaction that occurs in the classroom.  Small class sizes enable students to maximize their law school experience. At the School of Law:

  • 85% of upper level classes have less than 50 students
  • 68% of the upper level classes have less than 25 students

A first-year day student can expect:

  • 1 class of approximately 70 students
  • 1 class of approximately 60 students
  • 2 classes of only 45 students

All first-year evening classes will be comprised of approximately 45 students.  These small class sizes reflect the School of Law’s commitment to student success.

First-Year Curriculum

First-year students will be enrolled in one Introduction to Lawyering Skills (ILS) course.  The ILS course will combine instruction on legal writing with a substantive course such as Torts, Contracts I or Civil Procedure I.  The purpose of the ILS course is to teach legal writing skills within the context of a required first-year course.  Students will be automatically enrolled by the Office of Admissions in June.
