The University of Baltimore is proud to offer through its School of Law and Robert G. Merrick School of Business a unique graduate program leading to the:

Approximately lawyers and accountants currently are enrolled in this specialized program, the first and only one of its kind in Maryland.

The Program's Objective

To train competent tax specialists to serve the needs of Maryland's legal, accounting, and business communities.

The Timing is Right

The demand for tax professionals is increasing at a time when the complexity of tax law requires ever more highly trained and technically competent specialists. The law and business faculty who teach in the program not only are experts in tax, but also are experienced teachers who know how to lead students through a challenging, but rewarding, curriculum.

The program has the acquiescence of the American Bar Association and is accredited by the AACSB International -- The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Law-Business Synergy

Offering the program jointly through the School of Law and Merrick School of Business provides the broad training needed by today's tax practitioners. It also permits lawyers and accountants to interact, providing a richer experience for both.

The curriculum satisfies the specialized, advanced education needs of both professions, including the 30-credit, post- baccalaureate requirement that accounting graduates need to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination.

Geared to Working Professionals

To meet the busy schedules of working lawyers and accountants, classes are offered on weekday evenings. Students generally take one or two classes per semester and can complete either degree part time in two to three academic years. Regular attendance and active class participation are essential to success in the program.
