Stead Seminar - “The Recognition of New Social Actors and the Pluralist Challenge to Statutory Law”  Maria Fernanda Salcedo Repolês is Professor and Director of Graduate Courses (Master and Doctorate degrees) at the Law School of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. She has a Master’s Degree in Social and Political Philosophy (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – 2000) and a Doctor’s Degree in Constitutional Law (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais – 2006).

Twenty judges from the Nanjing People's Intermediate Court attended a two-week training program taught by members of the CICL. The group explored the American judicial system and civil procedure, the role of judges in civil matters, and other elements that affect the judicial process. The program, "Civil Proceedings: The Good Faith Doctrine and the Supervision Mechanism," showed the Chinese judges the various tools that judges in civil matters have at their disposal in order to ensure the integrity of a given case. The delegation was headed by Judge Wang Ping and included eight women and 12 men. During their time here, the group also visited the Maryland Courts of Appeal, the United States Naval Academy, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, and the Federal Judicial Center in Washington, D.C.
