UB Law Spring 2020 Professionalism Certificate Program
In coordination with the Student Bar Association and Honor Board, the Law Career Development Office (LCDO) is happy to announce the UB Law Spring Professionalism Certificate program. Earn a certificate in professionalism that you can add to your resume.
Program Requirements
In order to earn a professionalism certificate, you will need to attend at least one program under Business of Law, one of the Tech Skills for Lawyers sessions, as well as attend the Honor Board’s Ethics panel. RSVP for these events through the law school’s web calendar. Program participants who complete these requirements can be matched with an alumnus or alumna based on practice area interests for mentorship and will receive free business cards with the UB Law logo. Students who would like a mentor may register here.

Drawing an Ethical Line: From Bar Application to Advocacy
Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, 5-7 p.m., 12th Floor
UB Law Professor Robert Rubinson, past chair of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Section Council on Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, and Jessica Boltz, Assistant Bar Counsel at the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland Office of Bar Counsel, will discuss ethics in the legal field from the application process to ethics in practice. ‘Lawyers as Leaders’ Keynote Address and Mentor Reception
Tuesday, April 14, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Moot Court Room and Lower Lobby
The keynote address will be given by the Hon. Andre M. Davis, City Solicitor for Baltimore City and a former U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit judge. All professionalism program mentors will also be invited to attend the following networking reception.

Plaintiffs' Practice Panel & Networking Night with MAJ

Hear from civil attorneys with the Maryland Association for Justice who stand up in court for wronged individuals, holding corporate and other powerful interests accountable. If you are interested in plaintiffs’ work, consumer protection, and/or impact litigation, this is a great opportunity to learn more about this exciting practice area. Additionally, learn why plaintiffs' practice can offer better work-life balance, job satisfaction and compensation than defense practice.

At this workshop, we start with the foundation: gaining and demonstrating proficiency in common office software, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. You can receive a Legal Technology Assessment via Procertas (https://www.procertas.com/) and earn Qualification Badges that you can add to your resume in addition to your Professionalism Certificate.
