Gloria Steinem, a legendary leader in the modern feminist movement and an activist, writer and publisher with decades of experience in the struggle for equal rights, will deliver the keynote address for the University of Baltimore School of Law conference, "Can You Hear Us Now?: How New Feminist Legal Theories and Feminisms Are Changing Society," on March 7.
Lauren Young, director of litigation for the Maryland Disability Law Center, will receive the Robert M. Bell Award for Leadership in Public Service during a special ceremony on Feb. 8. The event is part of the 14th annual silent and live auction to benefit UB Students for Public Interest Law. The event is presented by the University of Baltimore School of Law.
Jane C. Murphy, professor in the University of Baltimore School of Law, former director of the school's Clinical Education Program and founder of its Family Law Clinic, has been named associate dean for Academic Affairs for the School of Law.
Twelve students from the University of Baltimore School of Law, joined by faculty and staff advisers under the auspices of UB's chapter of the Student Hurricane Network, will travel to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast from Jan. 6-12 to resolve civil disputes for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
