March 24, 2021
The University of Baltimore School of Law recently embarked on a joint project with the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration to investigate updates to Maryland law to support the safe deployment of connected and automated vehicle technology. Existing laws related to vehicles typically assume that key decisions regarding the operation and maintenance of a vehicle are made by a human, and these laws therefore may be poorly suited to governing vehicles that operate autonomously.

Nearly 100 Students Inducted into the Royal Graham Shannonhouse III Honor Society at University of Baltimore School of Law
February 3, 2021
Ninety-five students were inducted Jan. 28 into the Royal Graham Shannonhouse III Honor Society, which recognizes University of Baltimore School of Law students who have distinguished themselves academically after completing 32 credits. The pool is larger than usual because the law school did not have a fall 2020 induction ceremony. The honor society is named for a long-time, and much revered, UB Law professor. The late Prof. Shannonhouse has been described as an educator with a passion for the law and a belief that students learn best by being challenged to wrestle with legal concepts, rather than to simply memorize cases and statutes.

Panelists include UB Law alumnus Henry Greenidge, J.D. '10, a Fellow-In-Residence at the NYU McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research; Ajmel Quereshi, senior counsel at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and director of the Civil Rights Clinic at Howard University School of Law; and Seema Iyer, director of the Real Estate and Economic Development program in UB's Merrick School of Business and associate director for the Jacob France Institute, the University's economic research center. Moderating the discussion will be Audrey McFarlane, Associate Dean of Faculty Research & Development and Dean Julius Isaacson Professor of Law at the School of Law.
