Working with law school students, faculty and staff, Bell leads efforts to develop and implement DEIB initiatives and programming to enhance the employee and law student experience and promote an inclusive law school culture. He leads efforts to convene a law school-wide DEIB council charged with advising the dean on DEIB community needs and best practices.
He also advises the Student Bar Association Diversity Council and works with other student affinity groups to support and understand their DEIB challenges, needs, strengths and interests. Bell creates and implements initiatives, trainings and other educational and remedial programming on a wide variety of DEIB topics. Further, he helps mediate and resolve conflicts and concerns arising among diverse constituents and serves as a resource to the law school community with DEIB-related questions and concerns.
Bell works with several departments on campus to develop and implement DEIB recruitment strategies and initiatives. Before accepting his current position, he served as assistant director and director for law school admissions. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the university's Merrick School of Business.
He received his B.S. in criminal justice and his master's in public administration from the University of Baltimore.- Understanding Implicit Bias
